The Purpose of the Fund

The overall aim of the programme is to support and strengthen small Community Organisations operating in the rural areas, market and coastal towns of the South West Region. The focus will be on activities that enable people from diverse backgrounds to become engaged in their neighbourhoods and communities and to support those organisations that are bringing about real change to the lives of the people who live in those communities.

Dorset County Council recognises and values the potential of organisations of all sizes working across Dorset to deliver outcomes for the communities they serve.

The Dorset County Community Fund has been set up to build the capacity of the voluntary and community sector and parish and town councils in order to deliver stronger services and support for local communities.

Naturesave Trust

 Community Renewable Energy Grants

The Naturesave Trust now provides start up 'seed corn' grants for community renewable energy projects, whatever type of renewable power generation you, as a community, are considering.

The costs involved can be onerous and The Naturesave Trust recognises that many lenders and investors may be reluctant to put money into a project at an early stage as it may or may not get past the planning stage.

The Allotments Regeneration Initiative – travel bursaries for groups involved in regenerating allotment sites

Travel bursaries are available for groups of people in the UK involved in regenerating allotments to enable them to visit other allotment sites to learn good practise. Advice and support is also available at a local level from mentors.

 

An award of up to £300 for up to six people to visit a specified allotment site is available. To be eligible, applicants must be an allotment association, community organisation, councillor or council officer in the UK, engaged in allotment regeneration.

 

British Ecological Society - Public Engagement Grant

British Ecological Society - Public Engagement Grant

Grants are available to organisations in the UK to raise awareness about the importance of ecology through engaging the public. The grants will support projects that:

The Alan Evans Memorial Trust

The Alan Evans Memorial Trust offers grants to charitable organisations active in the UK for the preservation of areas of natural beauty or historic interest.

The Trust will consider giving grants to promote the permanent preservation for the benefit of the nation of lands and tenements (including buildings) of beauty or historic interest and as regards land, the preservation (so far as practicable) of the natural features and animal and plant life.

 

 

 

The Field Studies Council - Funding for Kids Clubs

The Field Studies Council is an independent educational charity committed to raising awareness about the natural world. The Council works through a network of 17 residential and day Centres in the UK providing courses for schools and colleges at all levels in addition to adult Individuals & Families courses, outreach education, training and consultancy.

 

Coastal Communities Fund

Coastal communities across the United Kingdom are going to receive a multi-million pound boost each year from a new Coastal Communities Fund.

The Ernest Cook Trust

Grants are offered for UK-based educational projects in the fields of the countryside and environment, environmental research and the arts,
crafts and architecture.

Wessex Watermark

 Support community and voluntary projects that will directly benefit the environment in the Wessex Water Region. Grants of between £100 and £1,500 are available for project costs, with an additional award of £2,500 which is made to a selected special project. Other funding will need to be secured.
