WSX Enterprise - Business Link Service Update

This year the Government announced its decision to close the regional Business Link service. WSX Enterprise has delivered the service in Dorset for the last 10 years. As a customer of WSX and Business Link in Dorset we would like to take this opportunity to update you about our plans after the end of the Business Link service on 25th November 2011.

This edition contains a report about the Transition Town Training held at Holton Lee in the Summer, along with news on consultations, Dorset Car Club, energy news and LUSH fest. As well as contacts for sustainability groups in the county, and the usual funding roundup.

Could your community host and manage a pilot project to reduce the need to travel and improve access to services in rural Dorset?

Dorset County Council are looking for applications for a number of pilot projects to reduce rural travel and improve access to services. Titled the
Community Travel Exchange (CTE), the purpose is to provide a focal point for the delivery of mobile services combined with
a co-ordination point for outbound travel (including public transport, community transport, car-sharing etc.)

The application process is now open, and open to all communtity based organisations, both informal / formal groups, and town and parish councils

Have your say on the Strategy for Quarrying

Dorset councils are inviting your comments on the future strategy for quarrying of sand and gravel, ball clay, building stone and other minerals.

CSE Policy Updates - FiTs - Green Investment Bank

New rates for the Feed-In-Tariff announced: New generation tariffs for large scale solar and anaerobic digestion under the Government’s green electricity scheme have been established. From the 1st of August 2011, new entrants into the FIT scheme will receive amended tariffs. The new rates for solar PV are unlikely to apply to domestic or small scale community installations.

South Wessex Waste Minimisation Group (SWWMG) to run a new Low Carbon Action Group.

Due to the Carbon Reduction Commitment, UK Low Carbon Transition Plan, Carbon Footprint requirements and customer awareness, SWWMG believes that future business growth is going to be 'Low Carbon'. To this end, they are starting a new Low Carbon Action Group by running a series of 4 workshops for people to gather information, knowledge and skills to ensure their business can be 'Low Carbon' and to save money too.

The four, 2 ½ hr workshops combined with the review, will enable participants to have:
