Consumer Issues

What can you, as a consumer, do to become more sustainable? Recycling, more efficient boilers and buying local food are just some of the ways you, yourself can become more sustainable.

If you don’t think you can save the world, you’re mistaken. There are very necessary big plans in action to save the rainforest and a lot of research is going into reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere but, as with charity, sustainability can start at home. Reducing the amount of waste going to landfill, recycling where we can and buying local foods are just some of the small changes we can make in our lives to become a more sustainable community.

In energy too, technology has progressed to the state that using a more efficient wood burning boiler or biomass boiler, or getting solar panels or wind turbines are much more sustainable energy sources than oil and gas boilers, and it can save you money too.

So you don’t need to invent nuclear fusion power or come up with an alternative to electricity to save the world. Just turning off the light or tap can make a big difference!
