Renewable Heat Premium Payment Scheme

The Government has launched the Renewable Heat Premium Payment scheme to help householders across the country with funding towards the cost of installing renewable heating systems. The new £15 million initiative, which opens to applications on 1st August 2011, will support up to 25,000 installations. Approximately 4 million householders in the UK do not have mains gas and have to rely on more expensive, higher carbon forms of heating, such as heating oil and electric fires. The scheme will mainly focus on these households.

Dorset Community Fund

Dorset County Council recognises and values the potential of organisations of all sizes working across Dorset to deliver outcomes for the communities they serve.

The Dorset County Community Fund has been set up to build the capacity of the voluntary and community sector and parish and town councils in order to deliver stronger services and support for local communities.

Funding Principles

Western Power Distribution Community Chest Grant Scheme Funding

Western Power Distribution (WPD) have just launched their Community Chest grant scheme, and £50,000 is available to enable communities to install energy efficiency measures in community buildings. The grant is being administered by the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) who can also provide expert advice and guidance to help groups to carry out an audit of their buildings.

Free Insulation for Everyone

Dorset Energy Advice Centre are currently providing 'Free' insulation for ALL owner occupiers and private tenants irrespective of income or age.

The grants will cover cavity wall and loft insulation if under 2.5'', but under some grants lofts where 4'' or less exist will be considered. Increasing the thermal insulation to your home, makes it warmer, saves on fuel bills and reduces carbon emissions which cause climate change.

Dorset Community Foundation - Surviving Winter Funding

Grants are available for the provision of cold weather related services and support to elderly people within Dorset.

Applications are being considered for express funding - based on priority and need. The number and value of grant awards will be determined by the success of the Surviving Winter Appeal

 

British Ecological Society - Public Engagement Grant

British Ecological Society - Public Engagement Grant

Grants are available to organisations in the UK to raise awareness about the importance of ecology through engaging the public. The grants will support projects that:

Tap Water Awards - for projects that reduce plastic waste and reliance on plastics

Tap Water Awards is a grants programme that aims to help reduce the amount of plastic waste generated in the UK. Grants are available for between £300 and £5,000.

Who can apply?

Wessex Watermark

 Support community and voluntary projects that will directly benefit the environment in the Wessex Water Region. Grants of between £100 and £1,500 are available for project costs, with an additional award of £2,500 which is made to a selected special project. Other funding will need to be secured.


 

Dorset AONB Sustainable Development Fund

Funding for projects that will help to care for the Dorset AONB and the people who live and work in it. You will need to check whether your project lies within the AONB boundaries, although in some cases projects from outside these areas can be supported. Broadly, AONB is looking to support projects that:

• Conserve and enhance natural beauty and heritage

• Support the social and economic well being of communities in a sustainable way

• Add value to local products

• Improve the quality of life in rural areas

Dorset Sustainable Development Fund

The Sustainable Development Fund (SDF) has been established to provide grant support to organisations wishing to develop innovative and sustainable projects that involve local communities and young people in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The Fund aims to develop and test new ways of achieving a more sustainable way of life in the AONB through the development of projects that bring environmental, social and economic benefits to the area. Grants of up to £20,000 are available
