Holton Lee’s novel take on recycling glass

Greenhouse an integral part of Ashtree Cottage Garden project.

As a landmark, Holton Lee’s Greenhouse – an expansion of its Ashtree Cottage Garden – does not quite equal the former glories of the Crystal Palace. As a landmark of the development of Holton Lee, it’s beyond compare.

Opened today by Mrs Sara Weld of Lulworth Estate, which kindly donated the Greenhouse, Roger Johns of RJ Developments and Holton Lee estate worker Stewart Cull, the Greenhouse adds 93m² of accessible, covered space for horticulture therapy.

British, delicious... and local to you from 'the Cooks of Country Markets'

Local, home-made, seasonal food is booming in Britain as more and more people get back to the land – and the kitchen – and opt to grow and cook their own food. Now, thanks to support from the Big Lottery funded Making Local Food Work project, Country Markets – a group of 400 Markets throughout the UK – is calling on more people to get home baking to support its exciting new local food label from ‘the Cooks of Country Markets’.

The Thomas Hardye School wins Sustainable National Teacher Award

The Thomas Hardye School became the Winner of the Sustainable Schools National Teacher Award in a ceremony in Bath yesterday. The school was nominated by a Year 8 pupils from Puddletown St. Mary's after listening to an assembly given by the Thomas Hardye Student Voice on reducing the carbon footprint in the locality by 10%.

As a specialist science college and the only secondary school in the area, the links within the DASP partnership and through the Specialist science college input, have allowed significant collaboration to happen. The school has been able to spread the word about sustainability.
