Dorset Community Foundation - Surviving Winter Funding

Grants are available for the provision of cold weather related services and support to elderly people within Dorset.

Applications are being considered for express funding - based on priority and need. The number and value of grant awards will be determined by the success of the Surviving Winter Appeal

 

Application Procedure

Priority will be given to organisations that are able to provide immediate services and support to people affected by fuel poverty and social isolation. Formally constituted local community groups e.g. charities, voluntary organisations, not-for-profit organisations and social enterprise groups that are providing support and services to the elderly can apply for funding.

Examples of activities that could be funded:

  • Lunch clubs and social activities that bring isolated or vulnerable people in from the cold, including costs of transport for users
  • Home-delivery or outreach support for vulnerable elderly people
  • ‘Comfort Packs' (i.e. hot water bottle, slippers, bed socks, warm weather clothes and blankets)

Applications will not be accepted from;

  • Applications directly from individuals
  • Donations of cash to individuals by a third party
  • Statutory organisations or the direct replacement of statutory funding
  • Political groups or activities promoting political beliefs
  • Religious groups promoting religious beliefs
  • Projects that take place before an application can be processed

Each application is assessed on an individual basis.

The average grant value is £250.
