Poole Tidal Energy Partnership - Update

Unfortunatley we didn't get through to the final round despite your fantastic support, but we are pursuing the project anyhow, aiming to bid for funding from other sources, and importantly, getting on with the study, with the help of a great group of Bournemouth University students and staff. We met with one of the local MPs, who is very keen to support our project, and we are planning work with schools and engaging the public to develop our plans in partnership with local people.

£20m plans to protect Lyme Regis Properties

The latest work by the district council to protect Lyme Regis from coastal erosion could begin as soon as spring 2012 and is expected to take two years to complete.
The works, costing more than £20 million, will protect roads, public utilities, businesses and homes in the east of the town from the more serious effects of coastal erosion and associated ground movement.

If the work is not done, within 50 years around 144 properties would be destroyed and a further 342 properties would lose their access. Also 900m of the A3052 Charmouth Road/Church Street, the main road into the town, and its facilities would also be lost.
