More dates added for communities to learn about Dorset's top priorities

The latest draft of the Dorset sustainable community strategy is being explained to residents who want to learn more, at a series of roadshows around the county.

The draft strategy 'shaping our future' sets out the top priorities to improve the quality of life in Dorset over the next 10 years. These include housing, a strong economy and ensuring lasting benefits from hosting the sailing events for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Weymouth and Portland.

The first roadshows in Sturminster Newton, Dorchester and Wimborne have been well received. Now further dates have been added for Christchurch, Wareham and Weymouth so that residents who want to know more, have a chance to speak to the authors of the strategy.

These events are now confirmed as:

19 July 2010, 9 – 12, Saxon Square, Christchurch
24 July 2010, 9 – 12, Wareham Library, Wareham
29 July 2010, 2 – 5 pm, Town Centre, Weymouth

The Dorset Strategic Partnership brings together partners from the public, private and voluntary and community sectors in Dorset to coordinate this action.

A full copy of the strategy and a feedback form are available on our website at, or alternatively are available to view in libraries. The deadline for receiving completed feedback forms is Friday 6 August 2010.
