Update on Dorset Centre for Rural Skills

Dear All

New Calendar of Courses

Please find attached a copy of the new calendar of courses for Summer 2011, it should be an nice easy to open one-page Word version. New dates for all your favourite building courses can be found; Straw Bale Building, Sustainable Building, Lime Day, and Cob Day.

Rural skills courses include Blacksmithing, Welding, Hazel Chair Making, Landscape Painting, Stone Carving and more....

If you would prefer to receive the full programme by post please ask and we'll mail one out to you.

New Courses

We try and grow the programme each year and this summer we are excited to add a five-day OpenCanoeBuildingcourse in July with local craftsman Angelo Young of Canoe Bushcraft. Naturally you will take home your finished canoe at the end of the course to have fun with over the summer!

Our new course within the last programme was Earth & Cob Ovens with Rob Buckley which ran in February. The group spent the day learning the process while building an actual oven in our large workshops which was successfully lit at the end of the day. The next oven builds will be taking place in May and August.

Glassblowing

I'm expecting April dates for one-day Glassblowing courses to be released by Emsie within a week. As soon as I do I'll be phoning anyone on my 'priority list' with dates and uploading them to the website so keep an eye out. If you're not on already 'the priority list' and you are interested do let me know.

We hope everyone is enjoying the wonderful start to the Spring and look forward to seeing you on a course soon!

Best wishes

From all at DCRS
