The greenest county in the land!

Supermarkets or allotments?

Many green organisations are worried about the government’s draft National Planning Policy Framework. The policy carries a “presumption in favour of sustainable development” without defining sustainable development, leading to concern that it will mean a default “yes” to developments such as supermarkets, while threatening community resources like allotments and green spaces.

The policy is out for consultation until 17 October 2011.

More information on the policy and ways to respond on the websites of Friends of the Earth and National Trust.
