Dorset Community Fund

Deadline for Applications:
Friday, June 22, 2012

Dorset County Council recognises and values the potential of organisations of all sizes working across Dorset to deliver outcomes for the communities they serve.

The Dorset County Community Fund has been set up to build the capacity of the voluntary and community sector and parish and town councils in order to deliver stronger services and support for local communities.

Funding Principles

£8,000 Government Grants for Electric Vans

The Government has renewed its commitment to low carbon transport by announcing (19.01.12) that the Plug-in Car Grant has been extended until 2015 and a new Plug-in Van Grant has been created.

According to the Government these grants will enable the purchase of ultra-low carbon vehicles which may otherwise be unaffordable. The existing Plug-in Car Grant offers 25% - up to £5,000 - to motorists buying a new plug-in car. Under the terms of the new scheme, van buyers will be able to receive 20% - up to £8,000 - off the cost of a plug-in van.

Wessex Watermark

Support community and voluntary projects that will directly benefit the environment in the Wessex Water Region. Grants of between £100 and £1,500 are available for project costs, with an additional award of £2,500 which is made to a selected special project. Other funding will need to be secured.

Dorset Sustainable Development Fund

The Sustainable Development Fund (SDF) has been established to provide grant support to organisations wishing to develop innovative and sustainable projects that involve local communities and young people in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The Fund aims to develop and test new ways of achieving a more sustainable way of life in the AONB through the development of projects that bring environmental, social and economic benefits to the area. Grants of up to £20,000 are available
