Bridport and Dorchester communities to be asked how a lottery grant could help them tackle climate change

Do you have ideas for how the community could deal with the potential impact of climate change? Two public drop-in sessions are being held, in Dorchester and Bridport, where community groups and residents will have a chance to help shape a lottery-funded project.

North Dorset Transport Survey

Dear All

The North Dorset area is, mostly, a great place to live. But getting anywhere if you don’t have a car can be really difficult. There are buses between the main villages and towns, there are Dial-a Ride services, and some volunteer car schemes to help people get, for example, to Doctor’s surgeries, etc. But we all know that transport could be better.

da21s newsletter for Winter 2011 is now avaliable for download.

This edition contains a report about the Transition Town Training held at Holton Lee in the Summer, along with news on consultations, Dorset Car Club, energy news and LUSH fest. As well as contacts for sustainability groups in the county, and the usual funding roundup.

Could your community host and manage a pilot project to reduce the need to travel and improve access to services in rural Dorset?

Dorset County Council are looking for applications for a number of pilot projects to reduce rural travel and improve access to services. Titled the
Community Travel Exchange (CTE), the purpose is to provide a focal point for the delivery of mobile services combined with
a co-ordination point for outbound travel (including public transport, community transport, car-sharing etc.)

The application process is now open, and open to all communtity based organisations, both informal / formal groups, and town and parish councils

Bournemouth, Poole, Dorset Joint Local Transport Plan

The final Bournmeouth, Dorset and Poole Local Transport Plan documents have submitted to Central Government on the 31st
March, and, following adoption of the plan by the full councils of the
three highway authorities are now available to view at the LTP web site
which is: http://www.dorsetforyou.com/localtransportplan

The site includes a link to a number of background documents that have
helped inform the development of the Local Transport Plan, either by way of
technical evidence, more detailed guidance or supporting strategies.

Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole renewable energy strategy consultation

The Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole renewable energy strategy is out for consultation.

The document contains a number of proposals including to adopt an aspirational target to generate more than 15% of all energy demand in Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole from renewable energy resources by 2020.

The Consultation will now runs until the 30th September 2011
