Where and who should projects be aimed at?

Dorset Community Fund

Deadline for Applications:
Friday, June 22, 2012

Dorset County Council recognises and values the potential of organisations of all sizes working across Dorset to deliver outcomes for the communities they serve.

The Dorset County Community Fund has been set up to build the capacity of the voluntary and community sector and parish and town councils in order to deliver stronger services and support for local communities.

Funding Principles

Naturesave Trust

 Community Renewable Energy Grants

The Naturesave Trust now provides start up 'seed corn' grants for community renewable energy projects, whatever type of renewable power generation you, as a community, are considering.

The costs involved can be onerous and The Naturesave Trust recognises that many lenders and investors may be reluctant to put money into a project at an early stage as it may or may not get past the planning stage.

The Allotments Regeneration Initiative – travel bursaries for groups involved in regenerating allotment sites

Travel bursaries are available for groups of people in the UK involved in regenerating allotments to enable them to visit other allotment sites to learn good practise. Advice and support is also available at a local level from mentors.

An award of up to £300 for up to six people to visit a specified allotment site is available. To be eligible, applicants must be an allotment association, community organisation, councillor or council officer in the UK, engaged in allotment regeneration.

The Big Tree Plant

A new £4 million community tree planting scheme - The Big Tree Plant - has been launched by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in partnership with the Forestry Commission, civil society partners and conservation organisations. The aim of the scheme is to support community, not for profit groups to plant one million trees in towns, cities and residential areas throughout England over the next four years (2011 to 2015).

Wessex Watermark

Support community and voluntary projects that will directly benefit the environment in the Wessex Water Region. Grants of between £100 and £1,500 are available for project costs, with an additional award of £2,500 which is made to a selected special project. Other funding will need to be secured.
