Chair of Trustees

Andrew Barker has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2006 and became Chair in 2012. His particular interest are in renewable energy technologies and the treatment of agricultural wastes but also has a keen interest in the politics of sustainability and green issues. He is a retired chartered Chemical Engineer with wide experience as a university lecturer, researcher and industrial consultant.

Colin qualified as an accountant and a company secretary and worked in local government for 43 years.   In mid-career he obtained a degree in the social sciences and became chief executive of Christchurch, retiring in 1995.      

He then qualified as an environmentalist and became a home energy advisor, established an energy advice centre locally, joined Transitions Towns and da21, of which he was a trustee and also chair of the Dorset Climate Change Partnership until 2009 when it was disbanded.   His interest in the environment dates back to the U.N. Rio Earth Summit in 1992 and the start of the Agenda 21 movement.   He has been the secretary of the national environment group of Rotary International for the past 12 years.   His particular interest is in climate change which he considers is one of the greatest threat facing mankind.

Judy joined da21 as a trustee in 2012. She has been the treasurer of Transition Town Dorchester since 2010, and is interested in promoting local organic food and renewable energy. She is also active in a number of local environmental groups including West Dorset Greenpeace and Frack Free Dorset.

Kate Forester

Kate has lived in Dorset since 2010. She previously spent 15 years in Tanzania, working as a freelance consultant mainly in the field of sustainability and the environment. Soon after arriving in Dorchester, she got involved with the local Transition Town, taking part in the community farm and orchard, and has now become a member of the steering committee. She became interested in da21 through Transition Town and has been a trustee for the past two years. She is also closely involved with the Communities Living Sustainably project in which da21 plays a key part.

Emily Bullock

Greener Choices Co-ordinator for the CLS Project

Emily is Greener Choices Co-ordinator for Communities Living Sustainably in Dorset, leading the work on greening homes and workplaces and making them more energy efficient.

She gained her experience in energy and climate change at three organisations in the South West of England and with two environmental organisations in Nigeria. She also holds a Masters degree in Climate Change and Sustainable Development. She is an experienced trainer, and a long-term volunteer for RESULTS UK.

Local Food Co-ordinator

My role is to develop a new partnership bringing together the range of stakeholders involved with local food – whether that’s growing, cooking, selling, serving or just plain savouring it! Over last 12 years in Somerset I have worked on various food projects including sustainable tourism initiatives, establishing food co-ops with those on low incomes and increasing access to land for community growing.

Paul has been working for da21 since 2006 as a project officer and website editor. He has been working on sustainability projects for 10yrs including recently the Dorset energized renewable energy campaign and Dorset FlexiCars – a Car Club based in Dorchester. 

 Paul works for North Dorset District Council as its Sustainability Officer.
